Coffee
Park - The Coffee park was created by the Colombia Coffee
Federation in the small town of Montenegro. At the Coffee Park
visitors will get to know about coffee, its benefits, how it is
grown and processed as well as the different classes of beans and
the national and international plants in this region of Colombia.
The park also has a coffee museum, the “Arrieros”( typical muleteers
in the region) path, a “ Guaduales”( large size bamboo) hanging
bridge, and two typical train stations representing the Armenia and
Montenegro town’s stations. The Park also features spectacles
including the “show of the Coffee” and the “Show of the Orchids”.
Also inside the park there are many other things to see and do such
as train rides and cable car rides which will take you to different
areas of the park.
Santa Rosa
De Cabal Thermal Springs - The thermal springs in
Colombia are an specatacular place to relax. The Thermal Springs
offer both the beautiful surrounding mountain plus both thermal and
cold water waterfalls. Santa Rosa de Cabal Thermal Springs has 3
medicinal water pools, ecological paths, mud pools, natural
jacuzzi’s as well as relaxing massages. There is also beautiful
green valley to view from the thermal springs, the bar or the
restaurant . The Thermal Springs are located near the town of Santa
Rosa de Cabal which is in the low basin of the San Ramon River. The
climate here tends to be a bit on the chilly side.
PANACA -
This is the National Park of Agriculture and Livestock and is a big
farming park that has the largest selection of domesticated zoology
in Colombia. Here is where a visitor will begin to understand the
relationship between man and nature and how it intertwines with
rural life in Colombia. In different areas of the park you can watch perforamance showing Cattle raising including cows, sheep and goats.
The raising of poultry to include both birds and rabbits. There are
also cattle exhibitions and parades as well as trained performances
of pigs, dogs and horses. There is also a section where you can
interact with the domestic animals of this region.
“Balsaje”
Rafting along La Vieja River - Enjoy a rafting trip along
a river located in a warm climate between the towns of Montenegro
and Quimbaya. This Colombia rafting trip begins at 9:30am and as you
coast down this pristine river you can enjoy the natural landscapes
of the surrounding forests.
The raft you will be riding on will consisit of 15 “guaduas”( a very thick bamboo) that is 18 feet long
and can hold up to 15 people. The trip lasts between 3 – 5 hours
depending on the water levels which fluctuate depending on the
amount of rain that has fallen. While you are on this rafting
journey you will have the option on swimming in the rivers rapids.
Botanic
Garden and Butterfly House - These gardens are for those
willing to appreciate the colors, music, texture and aromas of a
forest with paths surrounded by 60 species of plants and 200 year
old trees. It also includes a butterfly house for over 50 species of
butterflies and wide range of insects.
