The imaginary line that divides the so-called Amazonian Trapeze into
three countries, Colombia, Brazil and Perú, is right on the Leticia
tourist pier. Naturally, it is possible to arrange from there trips
to several marvelous places.
On a twenty-meter long boat, with a rear engine and side railings,
it is possible to cross to Benjamin Constant in Brazil, a town from
which ships set out to Manaos. During the stop-over, however short,
you should walk along the streets to the stores of the Arab
immigrants where handicrafts and souvenirs are sold. The
ethnographic museum is also a must.
Motor boats also set forth from the pier in Leticia to the Isla de
los Micos (monkey island), 450 hectares of primary forest full of
birds, mammals and apes. It is also possible to take a boat to the
Peruvian villages of Santa Rosa and Bellavista. Along the way you
will encounter the Yabarí river, with its sites for nature lovers to
admire pink dolphins, black caimans, and the Victoria Regia lily.
Packages to the Colombia Amazon can include tours to the National
Parks, typical villages, photography tours, and fishing tours.
